Career Paths
Finance Sector
This is the most common career path for Economics majors. Majoring in Economics provides a significant advantage in understanding industry trends and performing practical tasks in the financial industry. Potential job opportunities include commercial banks, specialized banks, non-bank deposit-taking institutions, insurance companies, and securities firms.
Government Agencies
Economics majors are in demand not only in financial public corporations like the Bank of Korea and the Financial Supervisory Service but also in non-economic government institutions. Economics as a major is advantageous for public service exams, particularly for positions in the financial and economic sectors. Potential job opportunities include senior civil servants, general civil servants, financial public corporations, and other public enterprises.
Private Companies
Economics majors are valued not only in finance-related departments but across all company departments. As markets expand, the ability to analyze and predict domestic and international economic trends and apply them to business practices will be increasingly required. Potential job opportunities include major corporations, foreign companies, trading companies, and venture startups.
Graduate Studies and Research Institutions
Further studies in Economics open opportunities to join specialized research institutions and academia. As interest in and the importance of economics grow, the demand for economics experts is expected to rise. Potential job opportunities include universities, colleges, and economics research institutes.
